FAQ

"Weak Freak Clause"

Our ‘Weak Freak Clause’ is effective upon purchase of your admission ticket.

We do not provide refunds or readmissions to an attraction because you got scared and freaked out. Obviously, we must have done our job!

"R.16 Clause"

Friday and Saturday night is STRICTLY R.16. This means no ID then no entry. It does not mean that if you have your parents permission, or if you forget your ID, then we will grant you entry. There are NO exceptions so please do not ask. All teenagers should bring their ID to ensure that they are able to show the security guards.

Birthday Boo

The Birthday Boo is available on Friday and Saturday nights only, for those 16 years and older.       It must be your birthday on the day you visit Spookers. Please phone or email to pre book this.

Transport

Transport may be available from the City to Spookers. Strict minimum of 10 people applies.

Photos?

Photos are now taken of every group going through the Haunted House. Some live action shots will also be taken but we can't guarantee that your photo will be taken. All photos are printed and are for sale in an attractive Spookers photo folder.

Photos are not available on the website, nor can we email you copies or give them to you on a flash drive or CD. You must purchase your photo at Spookers. We have bought a commercial photo lab to keep up with demand, and to make sure your photo is available on the night. Photos are kept on file and copies may be ordered. Please come to the photo counter in the cafe to view your photos.

Camera's?

You may take photo's outside the building, in the hall, cafe, and restaurant. You cannot take photos in any of the attractions at any time.

When is the best time to come?

Friday and Saturday nights can be very busy, and you may encounter a queue depending on what time you arrive. Earlier is better. Any haunted events that fall on Friday 13th are also particularly busy.  Our staff will always try to entertain you while you wait.

Are the monsters scary?

That depends.To some they may not be that scary, but surpises are inevitable. To others the experience can be terrifying, leading to wet pants, or a request to "Get me out of here". Remember that this is an R.16 event.

Will the monsters touch or harm me in any way?

The monsters are permitted to touch victims but only within very strict guidelines. They may get very close to you with their bodies and props. Clear instructions are given at the beginning of your visit for signals that you can give the monsters forcing them to back off. They will not touch children at any of the R.8 events.

Are there any health concerns involved with your events?

If you have a history of epilepsy, you may wish to reconsider entering the Spookers Haunted House as there are some strobe lights used in there. Some of the actors may take you by surprise and people with asthma may find it necessary to carry their inhalers. When the maize plants are flowering the pollen may be a problem. Bring your inhaler. People with heart conditions and women who are pregnant may wish to reconsider entering the haunted events also. The paths can be slippery, and when visitors get a fright they may bang into you or knock you over.

Can we be denied entry?

If you have been drinking, or are under the influence of drugs, any of our staff members can refuse entry, and/or you may be removed from the attractions at any time.
We take the safety of our monsters and our victims very seriously, so if you are deemed to be a possible problem for us you will be asked to come back another night.

Are there refreshments and drinks available?

We have drinks, sweets, icecreams and snacks. There is also Spookers Cafe where you can order a range of cafe type food. The Function room can seat 100 for a full sit down meal. See function page for menu details. The Horror Dome Circus Tent Marquee can seat an additional 200. Finger Food and Platter functions are available and will allow an even larger group to have their function here at Spookers.

Are you licensed?

Yes we have a full liquor license, available to those victims having a meal in our function room. The bar is also open to our other customers, unless especially booked for a private function.

Do you have any discounts?

There are NO discounts or student rates for any of the haunted attractions, however we may consider your request if you have a group of 50 or more and you book in advance. Please contact us for further details. bookings@spookers.co.nz

Is Spookers accessible?

Some areas of the Spookers haunted house are difficult to manoeuvre, and are on 2 levels so please request help from the staff. Please tell the staff on duty of your needs, as it makes it easier for us to give the best possible experience.

How long does it take to complete Spookers?

Spookers Haunted House takes approx. 30 minutes.
Disturbia takes approx. 20 minutes.
Freaky Forest 30 minutes and CornEvil 40 minutes.
The Ultimate experience is 2 hours or more of terror.

What type of shoes and clothing should we wear?

The outside pathways are packed dirt, so sneakers or other sturdy shoes are best. Wear clothing suitable for an outdoor environment.

Does the weather affect the events?

Yes, heavy rain/adverse weather will usually cause day mazes and the outside haunted attractions to close due to the increased risk of slipping over. Because the paths become very hard packed, they get very slippery with rain. If the weather is suspect on the night please feel free to call ahead for an update. Spookers Haunted House, and the Disturbia will continue to operate during wet nights.

What happens if we get lost?

During horror mazes, ask any ghoul for help. We also have "dead men walking", who are normally dressed staff members in the maze to help you with any problems.

Do you give refunds?

If you chicken out of the haunted experiences we do not give refunds. After all we scared you, which is what you bought the ticket for in the first place. See our "Weak Freak" clause.
